Elaine Igoe



Elaine Igoe is Course Leader and Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth, School of Art, Design and Performance, UK.  

Elaine’s research is internationally influential in expanding critical understandings of design practice in textiles. An experienced lecturer and examiner at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level across a number of UK and international institutions, she has held academic teaching and leadership roles at the University of the Arts London and Royal College of Art. An editorial advisory board member for the Journal of Textile Design, Research and Practice, Elaine also undertakes peer review for a number of international journals, conferences, publishers, funding bodies and research councils. She holds a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and associate membership of FACE (Fashion Academics Creating Equality).  Elaine is a member of the Steering Committee for the Interdisciplinary Textiles Special Interest Group at the Design Research Society.
